Marriage for all, and the possibility to make gender changes in the civil registry, came into force one after the other during the year 2022. Between 1July and 31 December, 749 same-sex couples tied the knot and 2234 couples converted their registered partnership into a marriage. Between 1January and 31 December 2022, 1171 gender changes were registered with Swiss civil registry offices. These are the initial provisional results from the civil registers for the year 2022.
