Swiss Health Survey: Alcohol consumption in Switzerland 1992‒2022

In 2022, 83% of the Swiss population aged 15 and over drank alcohol. This proportion has remained stable since 1992. However, the share of people using alcohol on a daily basis has fallen from 20% to 9% over the past 30 years. Binge drinking at least once a month concerns mainly young men aged 15 to 24 (31% of this age group) and daily alcohol consumption mostly men aged 65 and over (31%).
