In 2023, Swiss hospitals recorded 1.5 million inpatient stays and 23.9 million outpatient consultations. This was possible thanks to staff working in 185 800 full-time equivalent positions. Almost one in two qualified doctors and a third of qualified nursing staff working in hospitals were trained abroad.
