Income, poverty and living conditions in 2023

In 2023, 8.1% of the population or some 708 000 people in Switzerland were affected by income poverty. 6.3% of the population had been in arrears with at least two types of payment in the last 12 months and 5.5% had to go without important goods, services and social activities for financial reasons. The overall standard of living in Switzerland, however, continues to be one of the highest in Europe.
