In 2024, there were 47 075 farms in Switzerland, 1.3% fewer than the previous year. Organic farming also lost its momentum, with the number of organic farms ceasing to grow for the first time since 2010. Trends in livestock numbers varied. The number of dairy cows and pigs fell, while poultry numbers remained stable.
