Share of persons affected by traffic noise

Both during the day and at night, the proportion of people exposed to road traffic noise in their homes that exceeds the statutory limit is around 7%. Far fewer people are affected by excessive railway or aircraft noise. The share of people exposed to noise from these modes of transport is significantly higher at night than during the day, unlike with road traffic noise.
