UIT: Incoming and outgoing mobility rates by higher education institution, 2024/25

Incoming mobility refers to the proportion of students who have been evaluated for credits at a host higher education institution in which they are not enrolled, in relation to the total number of students at that host higher education institution. Outgoing mobility, on the other hand, refers to the percentage of students enrolled at a particular home higher education institution who have attended courses at a host higher education institution. Due to the low number of students at the TH Chur, the corresponding percentages are not compared with those of other higher education institutions in the following text. The highest incoming mobility rate of 8.1% was recorded in 2024/25 by the University of Neuchâtel, followed by the University of Bern with 6.3%. The highest outgoing mobility rate was recorded by the University of Lausanne with 6.2%, followed by the University of Neuchâtel (6.1%). The fact that the University of Neuchâtel has such high rates for both incoming and outgoing mobility is due to its participation in two cooperation networks: Triangle Azur (with Geneva and Lausanne) and BeNeFri (with Bern and Fribourg). The IHEID had the highest positive balance (+4.1%), with more incoming than outgoing students, while USI had the highest negative balance (-4.6%), with a surplus of outgoing students. The University of St. Gallen and the Distance Learning University Switzerland had the lowest rates of mobile students.
