Producer and Import Price Index rose by 0.3% in February

13.03.2025 - The Producer and Import Price Index rose in February 2025 by 0.3% compared with the previous month, reaching 106.7 points (December 2020 = 100). Rising prices were seen in particular for basic pharmaceutical products, petroleum products and electricity (for large-scale consumers). Pharmaceutical preparations and chemical products, on the other hand, became cheaper. Compared with February 2024, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 0.1%. These are the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

Higher prices for basic pharmaceutical products in particular were responsible for the increase in the Producer Price Index compared with the previous month. Electricity (for large-scale consumers) and petroleum products also became more expensive, while pharmaceutical preparations and chemical products saw lower prices.

Higher prices compared with January 2025 were recorded in the Import Price Index particularly for petroleum products. Prices also rose for green coffee, organic products of the chemical industry, non-ferrous metals and products made therefrom, and for vegetables, melons and potatoes. Prices fell for plastics in primary forms, pharmaceutical preparations, other chemical products and computers.
