Producer and Import Price Index rose by 0.1% in March

14.04.2025 - The Producer and Import Price Index increased in March 2025 by 0.1% compared with the previous month, reaching 106.8 points (December 2020 = 100). Food products in particular were more expensive. Petroleum products, in contrast, became cheaper. Compared with March 2024, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 0.1%. These are the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

In particular, higher prices for cocoa and chocolate products as well as for processed tea and coffee were responsible for the increase in the Producer Price Index compared with the previous month. Falling prices were recorded for petroleum products, however.

Lower prices were recorded compared with February 2025 in the Import Price Index, particularly for petroleum products. Prices also fell for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts, pharmaceutical preparations and for aluminium and products made therefrom. In contrast, petroleum and natural gas, other transport equipment and cut flowers became more expensive.
