Producer and Import Price Index fell in May by 0.5%

16.06.2025 - The Producer and Import Price Index fell in May 2025 by 0.5% compared with the previous month, reaching 106.4 points (December 2020 = 100). Petroleum products in particular saw falling prices. Electricity (for large-scale consumers), basic metals and semi-finished metal products became cheaper, as did petroleum and natural gas. Pharmaceutical products, in contrast, became more expensive. Compared with May 2024, prices for the whole range of domestic and imported products fell by 0.7%. These are the results of the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

In particular, lower prices for electricity (for large-scale consumers) and petroleum products were responsible for the decrease in the Producer Price Index compared with the previous month. Prices for non-ferrous metal products and scrap also fell. In contrast, price increases were recorded for pharmaceutical products and chemical products.

The Import Price Index registered lower prices compared with April 2025 particularly for petroleum products, petroleum and natural gas, non-ferrous metals and products made therefrom. Prices for rubber and plastic products also fell, while computer prices rose.
