The estimates were produced for the years 2014 to 2023. Between these two years, the gross value added (GVA) of the enterprise groups listed in STAGRE grew at a relatively sustained rate of 4.3% per year on average. For the latest available reference year (2023), the results show that foreign multinationals created the most value added, generating almost half (46.8%) of the value added of all enterprise groups. Swiss multinationals and purely Swiss groups followed, with relative shares of 43.4% and 9.8% respectively. However, the distribution of GVA among these groups has shifted in recent years. In fact, since 2014, foreign-controlled multinationals have gradually gained in importance (with an average growth of 5.8% annually). In contrast, Swiss-controlled multinationals have seen a more moderate increase of 3.9% per year on average.
