Active citizenship

This indicator provides information on participation in political and civic activities and thus on the degree of active citizenship of different population groups. 

From an integration perspective, an increase in the proportion of people reporting active citizenship indicates an improved situation.

Key findings: The population without a migration background is significantly more likely to report active citizenship than the population with such a background.

Trends over time: The proportion of citizens reporting active citizenship remained stable among all population groups between 2015 and 2022.

Major regions: In the majority of regions, people without a migration background are significantly more likely to report being active citizens than those with a migration background, with the exception of the Lake Geneva region and Central Switzerland.
