Hauptergebnisse

Key findings

Although twice as many mothers with a migration background are economically inactive, those who are economically active are almost twice as likely to work full-time as mothers without a migration background. Fathers with a migration background are three times more likely to be economically inactive than those without. Irrespective of gender, first generation people spend significantly more time on domestic and family work than people without a migration background. When it comes to extra-family childcare, households with a migration background are more likely to make use of day nurseries or after-school care facilities than households without a migration background. The latter are more likely to turn to grandparents.
