Health
Health is a fundamental aspect of people’s well-being. Access to healthcare, knowledge of the Swiss healthcare system and more broadly an individual’s socio-economic status all influence their state of health. That is why equal access to healthcare is essential to integration.

Hauptergebnisse
Key findings
Mixed patterns are observed in health status and access to dental care across groups with and without a migration background. Individuals with a migration background are less likely to report good or very good health, more likely to experience feelings of loneliness and have more limited access to dental care than those without. However, they are also less likely to suffer from long-term health problems. Second and subsequent generations tend to have better outcomes in terms of self-assessed health and access to dental care than the first generation. These differences can be explained in part by the age structures of the different groups.
