Goods transport in Switzerland declined by 6% in 2023

26.11.2024 - In 2023, the transport performance of goods transport dropped considerably compared with the previous year by both road (-6.1%) and rail (-5.7%). At 15.5 billion tonne-kilometres, the figure for heavy goods transport by road was actually at its lowest since 2007. The kilometre performance of light goods vehicles (vans) continued to rise, reaching 5.1 billion kilometres in 2023. These are some of the findings from the Goods Transport Statistics produced by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
