Heavy workload for parents

Neuchâtel, 26.05.2014 (FSO) - Mothers in couple households with child(ren) under the age of 15 spend 67 hours per week on paid and unpaid work. For fathers this figure is 68 hours per week. Lone mothers' total workload is also 68 hours per week. Women tend to have a greater domestic and family workload than men. Women whose youngest child is under 15 spend the most time on these tasks: Mothers with a partner spend approximately 51 hours a week, lone mothers 45. These are current findings from the Swiss Labour Force Survey 2013 from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
