Education
The indicators reflecting educational paths and educational attainment help us understand the skills of people living in Switzerland. Education is not only crucial in order to access the labour market, but also impacts a person’s opportunities to participate in society. Regardless of where it was completed, education should be considered in terms of its structural aspect, in other words with regard to educational attainment and general qualifications and competencies.

Hauptergebnisse
Key findings
Among the first generation, the proportion of people who have not completed compulsory education is higher than among the second or subsequent generations, or those without a migration background. However, people from the first generation are also more likely to have a tertiary qualification than people from the other groups. The proportion of young people outside the education system is higher among the first generation of people with a migration background than among the second or subsequent generations, or people without a migration background. The share of people with poor digital skills is higher among the first generation population than among the second or subsequent generations, or those without a migration background.
