UTE: Incoming and outgoing mobility rates by higher education institution, 2024/25

Incoming mobility refers to the proportion of students who have been evaluated for credits at a host higher education institution in which they are not enrolled, in relation to the total number of students at that host higher education institution. Outgoing mobility, on the other hand, refers to the percentage of students enrolled at a particular home higher education institution who have attended courses at a host higher education institution. The highest mobility rates in 2024/25 were recorded at the UTE Bern for incoming students (6.4%) and at the UTE Schwyz for outgoing students (12.4%). Some universities of teacher education (UTE) did not record any incoming students (UTE Valais, UTE Schwyz, UTE Zug and University of Speech and Language Therapy, Eastern Switzerland) or any mobility at all (UTE Schaffhausen). The UTE Bern has one of the highest mobility rates for both incoming and outgoing students. The UTE FHNW recorded the highest positive balance at +1.6%, while the UTE Schwyz had the highest negative balance at -12.4% due to a lack of incoming mobility. The situation at the UTE Thurgau is a particular one: students in the branches Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary attend part of their studies at the University of Constance. However, as this higher education institution is not located in Switzerland, this mobility is not shown here.
