Staff trained abroad essential in Swiss hospitals

26.11.2024 - In 2023, Swiss hospitals recorded 1.5 million inpatient stays and 23.9 million outpatient consultations. This was possible thanks to staff working in 185 800 full-time equivalent positions. Almost one in two qualified doctors and a third of qualified nursing staff working in hospitals were trained abroad. These are some of the results from the hospital data published today by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
